Description

Fishing Derby: June 19, 2010 from sunrise to the weigh in at 2 pm sharp

·     The derby is sponsored by the Fraser Valley Salmon Society and the Family Fishing Weekend

·     Cost is $2 for children and $5 for adults 16 and over. 

Tickets can be purchased at Fred’s Custom Tackle, Chilliwack Dart & Tackle and Rosedale Mini Mart

·       There are a lot of prizes and some of them are very significant for fish caught in numerous categories such as biggest, most, etc.

o   2 Mountain Bikes with $50 gift Certificate

o   8 digital cameras with other fishing equipment with 6 of the cameras

o   Upgraded pontoon boat

o   Professionally Guided Sturgeon Fishing trip for 4

o   PVR

o   About 200 rod and reels

o   Assorted fishing tackle

o   T Shirts, hats numerous other items


 **It is very important that you purchase your tickets before the day of the event as they draw 75% of the prizes on tickets that were purchased before the derby.  All the tickets bought before the derby day are drawn around 9 am and then posted so that they can be picked up the ticket holder anytime before 2 pm on derby day. These are prizes handed out just for trying, as no fish needs to be caught.

·        Every Pikeminnow caught in Cultus Lake on Derby Day using proper fishing methods and brought to the weigh in is worth $2 no matter what size it is.

    100 Pikeminnows have been tagged with a special spaghetti tag and if caught are worth a minimum of $100 each

·         Any other Pikeminnow with a tag caught in Cultus Lake on Derby Day using proper fishing methods is worth $25 per fish.

·         A food concession is available for all at near cost prices.

·         You need your own fishing tackle but there are people willing to help you set up your rod and reel if you are unsure how.

·         Pikeminnows are biting right now on worms and crickets.

·         Bring your own boat (motorized or a canoe), if you do not have a boat you can fish off the piers on Main Beach at Cultus Lake.

·         There will be numerous organizations that have set up booths to bring awareness to their organization and how it operates. As well as face painting for younger children.
